From the date of June 11th up to the date of June 24th, 2018 a cultural summer experience is back again on the riverside of the Parkinsel in Ludwigshafen. The Inselsommer represents a participatory cultural project involving music, theatre, workshops, games and aplenty of encounters.
Up until 2011, the Inselsommer has taken place on the Parkinsel in Ludwigshafen. In 2011, the department of urban development examined the citizen´s contentment concerning the cultural offerings of the city, using a civic survey. Following the Filmfestival (68,9%) and the Stadtfest “Spektakulum” (68,0%), the Inselsommer (66,3%) took the third place within the city´s top group and thus, Kultur Rhein Neckar e.V. (KRN), alongside several supporters, reinvites everyone to a new Inselsommer.
The main character: Music! As Cheerful, concertante, divinely, danceable – and diverse as our city appears creole-music. World music from Germany: the sonorous and innovative facet of globalization. Music for one world. KRN is counted among the carriers of creole, a network supporting global music from Germany – the soundtrack of an immigrational society. At the creole sommer, we are looking forward to several bands coming from all over Germany as well as the European neighborhood.
The main character: Children´s theatre. Aesthetic, poetic and with content. Just what the Theaterkumpanei KiTZ is known for. Amusement yet not only for children. But there is more for the entire family. Young and old love the wonderful towers built with toy blocks. Moreover, a special carousel and many more games delight all age groups. At the BetterWorldMarket, active and dedicated citizens of Ludwigshafen and the adjoining region introduce projects which better the world (at least a little). One can get to know many people advocating for change. Tasty food of diverse cultures and cuisines is part of wellness.
At the KunstKampus and the TheaterKampus, young people, supported by artists, confront themselves with the future of labor using artistic methods followed by a presentation of their findings.
Furthermore, an open-air piece of art, on whose design every visitor is invited to take part in, grows within the Kunstlabor.
As of now, the latest News concerning the preparations of the Inselsommer will be available on our blog.
